On: The Olli Jokinen Situation
Alot of e-mail requests for me to post the latest on this guy. I made a post yeterday about the Ottawa-Jokinen situation. Basically, Ottawa has a lot of interest, would like to move Havlat in the deal, but Havlat is currently on the IR, making him unavailable for trade. So, if Ottawa wants to try to wait for Havlat to return to the line-up and then make the deal, they will risk losing him to another team, which may force them to work around Havlat. Another name involved could be Chris Phillips. Right now, however, it is looking quite probable Florida will move Jokinen, especially with the interest he is gauging. Calgary has to be noted for having interest in Jokinen as well. There should be many future updates with this situation, so stay tuned to NTR.

Friesen to move out of Washington-posted 2/13, 4:00 pm et
It can be confirmed that the Washington Capitals, who acquired Friesen earlier in the year from New Jersey, will move him before the trade deadline. There is wide interest from anyone competing for playoff spots, or gearing up for the post-season.

Leafs weren't close to deal before Olympic trade freeze
A reliable source out of Toronto reports that John Ferguson Jr. was not close to a deal before the Olympic trade freeze. The source reports that Ferguson is still looking to move Allison, as he has been since November, but his main focus is on re-signing defenseman Bryan McCabe at the moment. Ferguson has gotten Tomas Kaberle re-signed to a new 5 year contract.

No truth to Doan rumour

Despite rumours suggesting otherwise, according to a source out of Phoenix, Shane Doan is likely headed nowhere. He reports that Doan is the "cornerstone" of the franchise, and is expected to lead the team for years to come.

Important Note:

Peter Forsberg will play for Sweden in Torino, as confirmed by a reliable Philadelphia source.

Fantastic news for Sweden. Really disappointing to be without Naslund. With him I really thought we might take it, but we still have great chances with Foppa in the line-up, Sundin, Alfredsson, Lidstrom, and much, much more.

I didn't think there was any truth to that doan rumour. They may make a few moves, but not rid of their best offensive player. best player overall, actually.

I would love to see Jokinen in Ottawa. I would like to see them try to work Phillips into a deal, so we don't worry about his contract later. Keeping Havlat and having Jokinen for the playoffs would be awesome. But if they have to move havs for him, at this time I would prefer to have Jokinen.

Except you'll be meeting us in the final, so scratch Ottawa out of that equation and you get

Vancouver Canucks = 2006 Champs.

no way.

vancouver doesn't have the goaltending. unless they swing something huge by deadline time, cloutier won't be enough (that is if he even returns by P-S time).
