Rumours: 2/14

Edmonton front-runner for Dallas Drake-posted 2/14, 7:30 pm et
Numerous sources are reporting that Dallas Drake will be one of the next victims of St. Louis' firesale. A source out of Edmonton reports that the Oilers would love to add Drake to their roster, as they continue to try to hold on to that 8th position in the West. Also, the Ottawa Senators may be interested in Drake, a source is reporting that Muckler likes his combination of offensive ability, as well as hitting and grit. Another team to mention is the Philadelphia Flyers. St. Louis sources continue to report that deadline day will entail more selling, and GM Larry Pleau would like to move Keith Tkachuk. However, Tkachuk currently holds a no-trade clause, and doesn't seem willing to waive it (don't ask me why. Who would want to be in that mess?)

Pronger isn't going anywhere
Offers have been a plenty for Edmonton Oilers general manager Kevin Lowe, but it can be assured that Chris Pronger isn't headed anywhere. Edmonton is currently holding on to the 8th spot in the West, and isn't prepared to unload their top defenseman for offense. It can be confirmed that the Florida Panthers made an attempt at Pronger, using Olli Jokinen as their bait.

we need a drake for the playoffs. that would be an excellent call by John Muckler, for sure.

Drake would be a fine addition, good depth forward with the grit and heart to be successful in the playoffs.

wasn't any question in my mind. Pronger will be needed in the final stretch of the season, and hopefully into the playoffs. A top defenseman like him is very very hard to come by.

McCabe is currently with Team Canada in Torino, and will not be distracted by contract negotiations throughout, obviously. McCabe, McCabe's agent, and Ferguson will resume contract talks when the tournament concludes.
