Rumours: 2/19
Ottawa interested in LeClair?
The Ottawa Senators are looking to add some offense with playoff experience. The Senators missed out on Doug Weight, who GM John Muckler was quite keen on, and he may have shifted his focus to Pittsburgh's John LeClair. A Pittsburgh source reports that the Pens are avidly shopping LeClair, and their return price may not be that expensive. Another name to mention includes St. Louis' Keith Tkachuk. However, Tkachuk is not yet willing to waive his no-trade clause, which is obviously complicating things.

How available is Raycroft?
According to a Boston source, if GM Mike O'Connell finds the type of deal he is looking for, he would move goaltender Andrew Raycroft. Boston goaltender Tim Thomas has been spectacular this season, and the Bruins also have youngster Hannu Toivonen ready to compete at NHL level. Boston is getting desprate, as they sit in 10th in the East, and could improve their club greatly in a few different areas by moving Raycroft.

Habs to make move for goaltending?
With the news of Jose Theodore's heel injury that will sideline him for at least 6 weeks, we may see general manager Bob Gainey make a move for a goaltender. Cristobal Huet has been stellar when called upon, which may be why Gainey chooses to add a back-up. Available goaltenders include San Jose's Vesa Toskala, Phoenix's Curtis Joseph, Minnesota's Dwayne Roloson, Buffalo's Martin Biron, and perhaps Boston's Andrew Raycroft. If it's a back-up Gainey is seeking, he may be looking towards Toskala, or Roloson. Both goaltenders are very use to that kind of role. It cannot be confirmed whether or not Gainey believes he needs to add goaltending depth. Gainey does have Yann Danis to step into a back-up role, if he wants to choose that route.

huet has earned the starting roles for the next 8 weeks, or how long theodore is out.

i think we do need the insurance of a good backup incase huet does start to play poorly. having toskala behind him would make it a lot more confortable.

interesting situation in montreal. huet is really proving himself, and I think Dannis probably has earned himself a backup role. i do not believe gainey will think its necessary unless when we get back from the break huet is a little wobbly.

I think its necessary. We need a stellar, experienced goaltender, because I really don't think we'll have Theodore for the playoffs. His injury may not last that long, but I think he's lost it.

yes, yes, yes, yes.

precisely what we need and that would be a great call by muckler. leclair is old and slowing down, but as a playoff addition, he is perfect. he knows what it takes to succeed in the playoffs, and its safe to say that's something we lack.

Yep. Agreed heatley15. Tkachuk would be great, but that's fantasy.
