Rumours: 2/23
Buffalo shopping for a forward, a defenseman.. and a goalie?
As reported earlier here on NTR, the Buffalo Sabres will look to add both a defenseman and a forward on deadline day, and it can now be confirmed they are also looking into the goaltending market. Youngster Ryan Miller has been fantastic for the Sabres, however general manager Darcy Regier will look to add a veteran back-up for Buffalo's playoff run. Miller has been playing great, however he is still young and has no playoff experience. Martin Biron is the current back-up, but he to has yet too play in a single playoff game. It may be that Buffalo moves Biron, and then looks to acquire a veteran goaltender with post-season experience for a cheap price. GM Regier may be looking at Curtis Joseph, who is looking like he'll be moved out of the desert.

Nothing behind Marleau rumours
The Toronto Sun has been reporting that Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks may be available on deadline day. However, according to a source in the San Jose area, there is no truth to this rumour, as Marleau has been fantastic this season, especially as of late. The Olympic break came at an unfortunate time for Marleau, as he was really in form before the break, with 6 points in his last two games. San Jose is an expected buyer on deadline day, with a roomy cap situation. San Jose will look to string together a very strong final third of the season, and grab a late playoff spot in the West.

Primeau Done for Season, Clarke to acquire forward?

It is expected that Keith Primeau will announce that he is out for the season once the Olympic break concludes. GM Bobby Clarke is now in the hunt more than ever for a forward. A Philadelphia source reports that Clarke will make a strong attempt at acquiring Pittsburgh's Mark Reechi. your best source for NHL trade rumours.

Bad news, but good news as well.

Reechi would be great to have, but we'll miss Primeau. Clarke does need to find a forward, that's for sure.

I was tired of that crap. He isn't moving, and I dont know why the Toronto Sun thinks they can say that.

Never thought there was an actual possibility of Marleau going, and its good to hear it cleared up.

Clarke is a rather pro-active gm, and will in no doubt pursue some forwards. I can see Reechi ending up there.
