Rumours: 2/25
Kings After Defense
The Los Angeles Kings have been in a downward slide as of late, and according to a source out of California, general manager Dave Taylor will look to turn the tide by deadline day. Taylor has expressed interest in adding a big-name on defense. Reports of interest in Washington's Brendan Witt, and Pittsburgh's Sergei Gonchar. He may also be looking at Anaheim's Keith Carney, who may be available on deadline day if the Ducks are well out of a playoff spot.

Certain Departures out of St. Louis
A St. Louis source reports that, while there are currently no certainties in the St. Louis organization, a number of players can be named as sure goners by deadline day. The names include defenseman Eric Weinrich, forwards Dallas Drake and Dean McAmmond, goaltender Patrick Lalime (will depend if someone finally wants to take a chance on him), and forward Scott Young. This is likely Young's final season in the NHL, and any playoff team would see him as good rental (also, he would become a UFA if he chooses not to retire). Names St. Louis will be shopping in addition to those mentioned, will include Vladmir Orszagh, and Keith Tkachuk. Tkachuk has yet to waive his no-trade clause, but may do so with interest from the likes of Ottawa and Philly.

Wright to Announce Retirement

A reliable source in the California area reports that Tyler Wright of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks will announce his official retirement shortly after the Olympic break. Anaheim has waived Wright, to open up some cap room with Sandis Ozolinsh returning from a substance ban by the NHL. It can be confirmed that Wright, who has been in and out of the minors the past few seasons, is ready to call it a career.
NTR's Top Story: Joseph to Edmonton All But Done
A reliable source in the Toronto area reports that the Edmonton Oilers have worked out a deal during the Olympic break to acquire Phoenix Coyotes' goaltender Curtis Joseph. He reports the deal as "all but done." Not a lot of word on what could be headed the other way.. but expect picks and/or depth/prospects. your best source for NHL trade rumours.

why wouldn't tkachuk waive it?

who wants to be in that mess. they are awful this season, and will be even worse after they sell anything they have left.

just go to a team that you can win with.

Not too bad hockeyexpert, I see:

Weinrich- Vancouver
Drake- Ottawa
McAmmond- Detroit
Young- Dallas
Lalime- Stays
Orszagh- Calgary

Also, I am predicting Carney is also a Canuck.

I see Carney, Weinrich and Cullimore all coming here. Nonis sees the problem, and with three injuries right now, that's who I see coming.

I am a personal fan of Tyler Wright.

He is underrated. He is very good third line checker, he gets the job done. Retiring at 32 is unfortunate for him. He had a stellar nhl job for a while, but the last two seasons has been down in the minors quite often.

One guarentee is Weinrich to Vancouver.

The rest, anybody could grab them on deadline day.

I don't think Gonchar is appropriate. he is playing awful, is only offensive.

But Carney and Witt are solid defensive defenseman, which is what we need.
