On: The Canucks “D” Situation-posted 2/15 4:00 pm et
The Vancouver Canucks should have no problem landing at least one defenseman by deadline day. Names of interest include Brendan Witt of the Washington Capitals, St. Louis’ Eric Weinrich, Columbus Blue Jackets’ Luke Richardson, Chicago’s Jassen Cullimore, and Anaheim’s Keith Carney and Ruslan Salei.

On: The Canucks Goaltending Situation
While the Canucks are looking to shore-up the blueline, they are also in the market for a goaltender on deadline day. Vancouver’s current goaltender targets are Anaheim’s J-S Giguere, Minnesota’s Dwayne Roloson, San Jose’s Vesa Toskala, and Phoenix’s Curtis Joseph.

Savard’s request likely to be accepted
An Atlanta source reports that general manager Don Waddell may go against team customs and choose to negotiate a new contract with forward Marc Savard. Waddell had been quoted in the past as saying that he does not negotiate contracts during the season, but will in no way risk the loss of Savard. This means Waddell will likely bend the team’s regulations and make an acception in Savard’s case, and try to get him locked up to a long-term deal.

Good to hear.

I think we'll get Weinrich as our defenseman, and Roloson as our goalie.

two solid additions.

I would like to see giguere here. kind of hard to see, but burke is the kind of guy who likes to give up on players. the opposite of pat quinn. maybe he'll move him. as for defense, I'd like carney or witt. good solid, defensive defenseman.

New here, just getting a feel for the site before registering. I Just had a quick observation on the Canuck Defenseman needs. You stated Spacek in your likely choices to go to Vancouver. He is already traded to Edmonton (not on Chicago like you stated).
