Rumours & Updates: 2/21
Who's on their way out of Columbus?
The Columbus Blue Jackets, after a very disappointing first two-thirds of the season, currently sit over 20 points out of a playoff spot, 13th in the West. It can be expected general manager Doug MacLean will sell off on deadline day, and possible exits are vast. Goaltenders Martin Prusek and Marc Denis may be available, defensemen Adam Foote and Luke Richardson, forwards Trevor Letowski, Jan Hrdina, and Manny Malhotra, are all names to mention.

What could the Sabres be doing on deadline day?
The Buffalo Sabres have no doubt been one of the biggest surprises of this NHL season, as they sit 4th in the Eastern Conference. There's also been very little to talk rumour-wise out of Buffalo. However, a Buffalo source reports, with the Sabres current cap situation being as roomy as it is, they may add "a defenseman and a forward" on deadline day. The Sabres currently have only $29 million consumed by player salary, and will look at making a few improvements to make a run at Lord's Stanley this season, the first time they feel they have the chance to since their playoff run in 1999.
On: The Leafs Deadline Situation
Kevin Gibson talks about whether the Leafs will be buyers or sellers on deadline day, and possible exists and targets. Kevin says on the Leafs radar is a big defenseman, possibly Brendan Witt. Find it in his blog, Kevin Gibson's Blog.

Also, in NTR's Blog, he posts about Al Strachan's thoughts on whether or not the Leafs will buy or sell, as well as thoughts on Team Canada's victory today against the Czechs.

I think Buffalo will tear through the playoffs and we'll see them in the final....

This team is quietly dangerous.

I'd put Buffalo as my sleeper pick in the playoffs...

if they can strengthen their line-up with some deadline additions this team may be very strong come playoff time.

It was a great day when Columbus signed Adam Foote. Then we got Berard, and we were looking up.

Massive disappointment of a season. And if we lose Foote, it's a nightmare.
