More Post-Deadline Rumours
Bertuzzi was almost a Canadien
Just talked to a source, and he reports that a deal was being worked on between the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens for Todd Bertuzzi, and discussions lasted late into the eve of deadline day, and into the early morning, but the two sides couldn't come to a final agreement. He reports that Richard Zednik would've been a peice of the deal, while other names discussed were Sheldon Souray, which would've helped meet Canucks GM Dave Nonis' need for defense. The source adds that there may have been an offer from Montreal that had Cloutier coming to Montreal with Theodore going the other way. He reports that there was an offer proposed by Nonis that was on the table for Gainey:

To VAN: F Richard Zednik, G Jose Theodore, G prospect Carey Price
To MTL: F Todd Bertuzzi, G Dan Cloutier

Apparently, Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey really didn't want to part with Price, and eventually negotiations fell through. What a deal that could've been.

Leafs tried for Malone, Arnason
A source reports that John Ferguson Jr. was interested in both Tyler Arnason and Ryan Malone, and was offering for them. However, Ferguson's offers were based around forward Nik Antropov, and they did not amount to anything. your best source for NHL trade rumours.

That sucks that it didn't amount. I would do that deal proposed in a second. Price isn't that good.
